Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1020271) describes a wayside cross on the north side of a minor road to South Tawton, just south of the A30, on an upland ridge that is the watershed between tributaries of the River Yeo and the River Taw. It is a simple Latin cross cut from a single piece of granite, with a rectangular shaft 0.35 metres by 0.16 metres and 1.9 metres high. The arms, 1.4 metres up, reach out to 0.53 metres wide. At 0.85 metres from the base, on the north and south sides, are oval notches for gate hangings. The east and west faces both carry an incised cross 0.26 metres high by 0.23 metres wide. The cross was moved here after major improvements to the A30 in November 1988. It is also listed Grade II. It lies in the parish of South Tawton, about 2.1 km east of South Zeal.

Siddaford Tor. It appears in 7 of the old books and papers in our research library, so the name has not always been written the way we write it now.
