This is a working farm complex that reflects centuries of agricultural practice on and around Dartmoor. The planned arrangement of buildings, centred on a threshing barn with its waterwheel, suggests purposeful organisation and investment in farm efficiency. The granary, cow house with dung pit, and linhay with enclosed yard are all functional structures that served the rhythms of mixed farming and the processing of grain and livestock.
Set about 100 metres east of Kilworthy, the farmyard sits within the rolling landscape where moorland edges into settled farmland. These buildings tell the story of how farmers worked the Devon soil and adapted to local water resources. The site is designated Grade II* by Historic England, recognising its historical and architectural importance as an intact example of planned agricultural buildings.
