Preston Farmhouse

Devon

Preston Farmhouse is a substantial listed building that reflects the long history of farming on the margins of Dartmoor. The house likely began as a medieval or early post-medieval structure, with evidence of significant rebuilding and extension visible in its fabric. Like many Dartmoor farmsteads, it has been adapted and enlarged by successive generations of occupants responding to changing agricultural needs and domestic comfort.

Today the building stands as a working farmhouse in the rural landscape, its Grade II* listing reflecting its architectural and historical interest. Visitors walking the surrounding moorland will recognize it as one of the enduring settlements that have shaped the Dartmoor fringe, part of a pattern of farms and villages that work the land between wild moorland and the cultivated lowlands beyond.
