Plundered Dartmoor
1896 · Dartmoor Preservation Association
Plundered Dartmoor is an essay by Robert Burnard (1848-1920), first published in 1896 and issued by the Dartmoor Preservation Association as its Publication No. 11. The booklet argues against the loss of open moorland. Its pages take in the enclosure of Forest land, water supply schemes, the War Office's artillery ranges, the enclosures made by the convict prison at Princetown and the turf-cutting on the moor, and it carries maps of the parishes and commons concerned.
