Old Farm (ruins)

Princetown, Devon

Part of Princetown →

This is what remains of the original Nun's Cross farmhouse, built by John Hooper around 1871 as part of his moorland enclosure. It started as a single-storey, two-room cottage with a barn attached, and the family lived here in the 1870s. By 1898 it had been converted to a cattleshed, and a new farmhouse was built on the site in 1901. The foundations of the old building are still visible on the open moor.
