Langstone stone circle

Grid ref: SX 5563 7819

Langstone stone circle sits exposed on the high moor, a Bronze Age monument of modest but genuine presence. The stones are worn smooth by wind and weather, their surfaces softened by millennia, yet they maintain an unmistakable geometry—a deliberate ring placed here when Dartmoor's climate was warmer and the moor less densely forested than it appears today.

The circle offers something many heritage sites don't: genuine solitude and the chance to stand where Bronze Age people stood, surrounded by nothing but moorland. There are no barriers, no interpretation boards, just the stones, the wind, and the vast perspective of Dartmoor unfolding around you. It rewards those willing to walk into the open country to find it.
