This hut circle lies on the high moorland northeast of Thornworthy Lodge, a remnant of Bronze Age settlement on Dartmoor. The site consists of the stone-built foundations of a single dwelling, its circular form still visible in the moorland turf and stone. Such hut circles are scattered across the moor, evidence of farming communities who lived here in the second millennium before the present era.
Today the site offers little drama but speaks quietly to the long occupation of Dartmoor's open ground. Visitors walking this stretch of moorland can see it in context, surrounded by heather and granite outcrops, much as its ancient inhabitants would have known it. The setting itself is part of the story: windswept, exposed, yet chosen for settlement across many generations.
