Holwell Rocks

Devon

Holwell Rocks is a small granite tor rising from the open moorland of central Dartmoor. The exposed rock formations are characteristic of the moor's granite geology, weathered and fractured by centuries of exposure to wind and weather. From this vantage point, the views extend across the wide sweep of Dartmoor's high plateaux and rolling terrain.

The tor sits within easy walking distance of nearby settlements and makes an unpretentious destination for those exploring this part of the moor. The surrounding moorland is typical Dartmoor landscape: rough grassland, heather, and gorse, with the granite beneath always close to the surface. It is the sort of place where the moor's character reveals itself in small details and quiet perspectives rather than dramatic peaks.
