Enclosures and hut circles N of White Tor

This scheduled monument preserves the remains of a Bronze Age settlement, with several hut circles and associated field enclosures scattered across the open moorland north of White Tor. The hut circles, marked by low stone rings, once supported timber or turf structures built by communities who farmed this part of Dartmoor in prehistory. The surrounding enclosures suggest organized land use and pastoral activity across what is now rough moorland.
Today the site sits within the characteristic landscape of central Dartmoor, with distant views across the high moor. Walking here gives a sense of how thoroughly the Bronze Age people inhabited and shaped even the exposed moorland, and how their settlements were scattered across terrain that would later be abandoned.
