Enclosure

Grid ref: SX 7489 7757

This Bronze Age enclosure sits on the high moor, its stone walls still defining space across the heather and grass after millennia of wind and weather. The site speaks to a time when Dartmoor supported farming communities who built deliberately, marking their territory and livestock against the open landscape.

Walking to the enclosure means crossing real moorland—the kind of terrain that hasn't fundamentally changed since those Bronze Age inhabitants lived here. The stones are modest but purposeful, weathered and half-buried in places, yet their geometry still reads clearly to anyone willing to look closely at what the moor reveals.
