Dartmoor Nature Alliance
The Dartmoor Nature Alliance is an organisation with a vision for Dartmoor as a place where nature is in the ascendancy, with wildlife spreading into the surrounding countryside and the needs of the natural environment coming first.
The Alliance holds that Dartmoor should be valued primarily for the quality of its natural heritage and its life-enhancing qualities, rather than as a resource to be exploited or an amenity to be utilised.
The organisation campaigns for a Dartmoor that acts as a haven where people can be inspired by nature, and where they can experience a landscape in which wildlife is returning, spreading and thriving. It shares news, research and documents through its library, and keeps supporters updated via a mailing list.
Dartmoor Nature Alliance started in 2024 as an informal group of people who live and work on Dartmoor and were concerned about the state of nature on the moor. It now has a core group, and over the coming twelve months is keen to involve more people in supporting campaigns.
The current core group is:
Harry Barton, campaigner, former CEO of Devon Wildlife Trust and DNA Chair
Elena Grice, campaigner and DNA Secretary
Jenny Issac, campaigner and DNA Treasurer
Lisa Schneidau, environmentalist, storyteller, author
Guy Shrubsole, author and campaigner
Rebecca Wrigley, Chief Executive, Rewilding Britain
Nick Viney, regenerative farmer
Tony Whitehead, environmental campaigner
Kevin Cox, Dartmoor landowner
