Cuckoo Rock

Cuckoo Rock is a small granite tor rising to 317 metres on the eastern side of Dartmoor's high ground. The peak itself is relatively unadorned, offering a quiet stopping point on the rolling moorland rather than a dramatic summit. It sits within walking distance of several routes across this part of the moor, making it a natural waypoint for those exploring the middle distances of Dartmoor.
The views from the top sweep across the open plateau and towards the eastern slopes of the moor. The character of the landscape here is gentler than the tors further west, with heather and grass moorland giving way to the more settled terrain beyond. Cuckoo Rock rewards visitors as much for its setting within the wider moorland as for the modest views from its crown.
