Cornwood Parish Council

Cornwood is a village and civil parish on the southern fringe of Dartmoor National Park in the South Hams district of Devon, roughly midway between Ivybridge and the moor itself. The parish takes in the villages of Cornwood and Lutton along with several surrounding hamlets and farms, and is home to around 1,100 residents. Cornwood Parish Council represents this community, working alongside South Hams District Council and Devon County Council on local services and planning matters that affect day-to-day life in the parish. The village retains a strong community character, with a primary school, pre-school, parish church, two public houses, a village shop and post office, and a well-used village hall that hosts clubs and events throughout the year. Surrounded by rolling South Hams countryside with the high moor rising close by, Cornwood is a popular base for walkers heading onto Dartmoor via the Yealm and Piall valleys.
