These two hut circles represent the remains of Bronze Age dwellings, likely dating to the later prehistoric period when Dartmoor's higher ground supported scattered pastoral communities. The circular stone foundations would once have supported roundhouses, their positions chosen for access to water and grazing on the open moor.
Today they survive as low stone rings set into the moorland turf, subtle features that speak to the long history of human presence on Dartmoor. They form part of a broader pattern of prehistoric settlement across the moor, where hundreds of similar remains mark the rhythm of ancient life on these uplands.
