Teignbridge District Council

Teignbridge District Council is the local authority for the eastern side of Dartmoor and the Teign Valley, taking in gateway towns such as Bovey Tracey, Ashburton, Chudleigh and Moretonhampstead as well as Newton Abbot, where its offices are based. Day to day, the council runs household waste and recycling collections, garden waste subscriptions and bin replacement services for its Dartmoor-edge communities. It processes planning applications and appeals, oversees the district's local plan and policy, and takes a particular interest in conservation given the historic market towns and listed buildings on Dartmoor's eastern approach. Council tax administration, housing advice, homelessness prevention and business rates are handled centrally, alongside licensing for alcohol, entertainment and animal-related businesses.
