West Devon Borough Council

West Devon Borough Council is the district authority for the western side of Dartmoor, covering Tavistock, Okehampton and the many smaller moorland villages between them, including Princetown, Lydford, Mary Tavy and Yelverton. The council delivers the everyday local services residents rely on: household waste and recycling collections, council tax billing and support, planning applications and conservation area management, business rates, and licensing for alcohol, entertainment and animal-related activities. It manages the borough's car parks and parking permits, deals with environmental health matters, and runs housing services including homelessness support and affordable housing schemes. West Devon also plays a role in community life through grants and funding for local groups and management of community assets. It shares a joint consultation and engagement portal with neighbouring South Hams District Council.
