Plymouth Athenaeum

The Plymouth Athenaeum is a charity (no. 216963) dedicated to the study and promotion of learning in science, technology, literature and art. It began in 1812 as the Plymouth Institution and is at Derry's Cross in Plymouth.
It offers lectures and talks, a library of about 3,500 volumes, a theatre, meeting rooms and a lounge, and has writers, readers, art, photographic, climate emergency and astronomy groups. Membership runs from 10 pounds a year for juniors to 100 pounds for families. R. Hansford Worth was President of the Plymouth Institution in 1904.
