North Forder Farmhouse

Devon

North Forder is a substantial farmhouse set in the rolling country north of Dartmoor's high moor. The building shows the hallmarks of medieval construction, with later additions and alterations that reflect centuries of farming life on the edge of the National Park. Its Grade II* listing recognises the significance of its surviving historic fabric and the story it tells of settlement and land use in this part of Devon.

Today the farmhouse stands as a working building in the landscape, its character shaped by the practical needs of moorland farming. Visitors exploring the quieter lanes and bridleways of northern Dartmoor will recognise in North Forder the vernacular architecture common to this region, where stone and slate have weathered generations of Devonian weather.
