Lucinda Guy

Lucinda Guy is the founder of Skylark, a licensed FM radio station broadcasting to Dartmoor National Park and its edges on 105.8 FM from Princetown and 107.6 FM from Holne. Rather than programmes or presenters, Skylark weaves oral histories, new music and live audio from people, animals, plants and weather into a continuous, ever-changing broadcast that has run since 2020.

Guy's 2025 PhD thesis at the University of Plymouth, Artist Designed Systems in Community Radio, examines Skylark both as a public broadcasting service and as a research project, asking how artistic design choices, what to automate and what to leave to contributors, can make community radio more open to who gets heard, in contrast to the constraints of automated commercial broadcasting systems.

Skylark's own project material credits Tony Whitehead as a contributor of wildlife recordings to the station; his role there is as one of the many local contributors whose sound makes up the broadcast, not as Skylark's creator.
