Four hut circles N of Bush Down

These four hut circles lie scattered across the moorland north of Bush Down, their low stone rings marking the footprints of Bronze Age dwellings. Built from stone foundations during the second millennium BCE, they testify to a time when Dartmoor's higher ground supported settled communities living from pastoral farming and stock herding.

Today the circles are subtle features in the landscape, best understood by walking between them and observing how they relate to the surrounding terrain, water sources, and shelter. They form part of a wider pattern of prehistoric settlement across this part of Dartmoor, where Bronze Age people adapted to upland life over three thousand years ago.
