Exeter City Council

Exeter, Devon

Exeter City Council is the local authority for the city of Exeter, Devon's historic county city, describing its mission as putting people first in Exeter and Devon. The council delivers day-to-day city services including household bins and recycling, council tax and housing benefit, planning applications and building control, council housing and tenancy support, car parking, environmental health, licensing, and leisure and cultural facilities. Although Exeter itself sits outside the Dartmoor National Park boundary, the city functions as a key gateway and service centre for the northern and eastern fringes of the moor, sitting at the junction of routes toward Moretonhampstead, Chagford and the A30 corridor. Many residents of Dartmoor's northeastern villages rely on Exeter for shopping, healthcare, higher education and rail and bus connections. The council's main offices are based at the Civic Centre on Paris Street. Cover photograph: photo by Graham Horn, CC BY-SA 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons.
