St Andrew's stands at the east end of Fore Street in Moretonhampstead. The entry dates the tower to the early 15th century, adding that a new tower was recorded in 1418 in Bishop Stafford's register, and the nave and aisles to the late 15th century. Heavy restorations followed in 1856 and 1904-5. The tower is small dressed granite blocks in four stages, with battlements and corner pinnacles; the two-storey south porch is 16th century.

The 1856 restoration removed the original rood screen, and the present screen dates from 1904. Little earlier furniture survives: a 15th-century octagonal granite font, a carved wooden angel from the old 18th-century pulpit, and a wall memorial to Francis Whiddon, minister of the parish for 32 years, who died in 1656. Two early 19th-century memorials in the porch commemorate French soldiers.

Not the same church as St Andrew, Ashburton, Buckland Monachorum or Whitchurch.

“There, sir, that's the greatest improvement I ever made on your property. I took in more than half an acre and made the fence straight ;" adding, with half a sigh, " Ah ! we can't do that now ; Duchy 's too strict”

Rev. Treasurer Hawker, Report and Transactions of the Devonshire Association, vol. 12 (1880), 1880
