Chantry chapel in Buckfastleigh churchyard

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1002501) describes a 12th to early 13th century chantry chapel in Buckfastleigh churchyard, east of the church. It is a single-celled rectangle about 13.7 metres long by 7 metres wide inside. Three walls still stand in part and the rest lies buried.

The east gable is almost complete, about 7 metres high and 0.75 metres thick, with a deeply splayed lower window of dressed stone, some fragments of painted plaster, and the lower part of a round window above. A partly filled-in piscina is set in the inside of the east wall. The south wall stands about 5 metres high with an arched doorway, a lancet window and part of a second, and has a number of small square putlog holes. A short piece of the north wall keeps part of a lancet window.

Inside the chapel are several graves dating from the 1800s to the early 1900s. The building is also listed at Grade II*.
