Branscombe's Loaf

Branscombe's Loaf is a small granite tor occupying the high ground east of Postbridge, where the moor opens out into rolling country. Like many Dartmoor peaks, its name has settled into the landscape over centuries, though little is recorded of its particular character or history. The tor itself is modest in stature but commands its immediate surroundings in the way of Dartmoor's lesser heights.
The walk to it crosses typical moorland terrain, with good views across to the central and eastern high ground. The granite outcrops and the moorland setting make it a quiet spot, away from the busier routes to Higher Tor or Haytor. It rewards a visit for walkers exploring this less crowded part of the moor.
