Braddon Tor

Braddon Tor consists of scattered granite rocks spread across the west side of Broad Down, sitting at over 510 metres. The best outcrops lie closest to Cherry Brook, where you'll find closely packed fissures in the granite and a fine xenolith - country rock absorbed into the granite itself. Though the rocks are lower and more spread out than typical tors, they cover substantial ground, particularly to the north-east. The tor remained unnamed on Ordnance Survey maps until March 2023, despite being one of Dartmoor's more significant features. It's a peaceful spot, less busy than nearby ridges, and the walk from Postbridge, though steep, rewards you with remarkable solitude and good views on a clear day.
