Set within 275 acres of Dartmoor National Park, our five-red-star country estate received the gold award in the Large Hotel of the Year category, one of the most prestigious honours in English tourism.

The national recognition follows Bovey Castle’s success at the Devon Tourism Awards, where the hotel was also crowned Large Hotel of the Year. To now receive the title on a national stage is a proud moment for our whole team.

The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence have celebrated the very best of the country’s tourism industry for more than three decades, recognising quality, innovation, best practice and outstanding customer service.

During an anonymous visit, judges described Bovey Castle as “the perfect hotel to escape from it all; whether that is relaxation and pampering, to fine dining or country pursuits.”

The award reflects the dedication of our team and the continued investment being made across the estate. Recent enhancements include a £160,000 upgrade to our golf facilities, with the introduction of a new Golf Shop, Members’ Lounge and TrackMan-powered Driving Range. The investment has also supported a rise in female golf membership, helping to make the sport more accessible and welcoming.

Beyond the course, guests can enjoy more than 15 outdoor activities across the estate, from falconry and archery to off-road driving and guided Dartmoor experiences. Our food and drink offering also continues to champion the best of Devon, with local and estate-grown produce helping to create a dining experience rooted in its surroundings.

This award also marks the second year in a row that Eden Hotel Collection has celebrated national success in the Large Hotel of the Year category, following Mallory Court Hotel and Spa’s win last year.
