Pound Rock

Pound Rock is a granite feature set in the open moorland of central Dartmoor, away from the better-known tors. The rock itself is modest in scale but characteristic of the moorland's exposed granite bones, weathered and substantial against the surrounding heather and grass.
The walk to Pound Rock takes you through quiet moorland where you're more likely to encounter sheep and ponies than crowds. From here, the views open across the rolling moor in all directions, with the chance to enjoy the landscape's scale and solitude. It's a destination for those who prefer the moor's quieter corners.
