Lower Leather Tor

Devon

Lower Leather Tor is a granite peak in the heart of Dartmoor, standing at 350 metres above sea level. Despite its name, it sits on the higher ground of central Dartmoor, surrounded by the open moorland and bog that characterises this landscape. The tor itself is modest in stature but typical of Dartmoor's granite outcrops, weathered and rounded by centuries on the moor.

The walk to Lower Leather Tor takes you across quiet moorland with wide views in all directions. The approach is straightforward for those familiar with navigation on open moor, passing over the boggy and grassy terrain that makes up much of this plateau. From the top, the views reach across the surrounding high moor, with the granite landscape unfolding in all directions.
