Eagle Rock

Devon

Eagle Rock is a modest granite outcrop situated on the high moor east of Postbridge. Its name speaks to the raptors that hunt over this open country, where the land falls away to moorland in all directions and the sky dominates the view. The rock itself is characteristic granite, weathered and fractured by centuries of exposure.

The walk here crosses typical high moor terrain, with access from nearby commons and footpaths. It forms a natural waypoint in the network of routes crossing the central plateau, offering a place to pause and take in the sweep of the moor. The views stretch across the moorland landscape that makes Dartmoor distinctive: open, windswept, and quietly dramatic in its scale.
