• Military firing ranges Live firing takes place in the Okehampton, Merrivale and Willsworthy ranges. Always check the firing times before entering (freephone 0800 458 4868). Dartmoor firing times (GOV.UK)
• River health (sewage overflows) Near-real-time storm-overflow monitors, showing where South West Water may be discharging sewage into a river or the sea right now, or has in the last 24 hours. • River levels (live) How high the moor's rivers are running right now, at the Environment Agency's gauging stations. • Rainfall (live) How much rain has fallen across the moor recently, at the Environment Agency's rain gauges. Each gauge is sized and shaded by its total over the last seven days — in a dry spell most sit near zero, which is the story in itself. Click a gauge for a day-by-day chart of the last 28 days. • National Trust land Land cared for by the National Trust and open to the public. National Trust in Devon
• Ancient woodland Woodland that has existed since at least 1600, rich in wildlife. Woodland Trust
• Trees outside woodland The trees on the moor that stand outside the woods: lone trees, small groups of trees and small woodlands. Zoom in to a valley or hillside to see them appear. This is an automated national dataset, so it maps only trees over about three metres and can contain errors, sometimes showing trees where there are none. Treat it as a guide, not gospel. • Sites of Special Scientific Interest Nationally important places for their wildlife, geology or landforms. Natural England designated sites
• Registered common land Land subject to rights of common, much of which you may walk on. Common land and village greens (GOV.UK)
• Open access land (right to roam) Mapped access land where you can walk freely under the CRoW Act. Rights of way and open access land (GOV.UK)
• Rivers & waterways Every named river and brook on the moor, plus its smaller streams, reservoirs and pools, traced from OpenStreetMap.
