Widecombe Fair
Set around the famous fair at Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a broad, comic picture of a moor community. Its central thread, farmer Samuel Sweetland courting one neighbour after another while the right woman keeps his house, Phillpotts reworked into his hit play The Farmer's Wife (later filmed by Hitchcock).
