Devon & Cornwall Police

Devon & Cornwall Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the whole of Devon and Cornwall, including the Isles of Scilly, and covers the largest geographical area of any police force in England. For people living on or visiting Dartmoor, the force's most relevant work is delivered through its rural and neighbourhood policing teams. A dedicated Rural Affairs Team, made up of rural neighbourhood beat managers and a Rural Engagement Team of Special Constables, works across the moor's farming and moorland communities on issues such as livestock worrying by dogs, sheep and cattle theft, fly-tipping, and moorland road safety. Recent operations on Dartmoor have included targeted patrols on moorland roads between Tavistock, Princetown and Yelverton following collisions involving livestock, and the Devon Livestock Initiative launched with NFU Mutual to tackle rural theft. For non-emergency matters, including reporting livestock incidents or rural crime, residents and visitors are asked to call 101 or use the force's online reporting tools.
