Two stone hut circles mark the remains of Bronze Age settlement on this exposed stretch of Dartmoor. The circular stone footings represent domestic structures from a time when the moor supported scattered farming communities, their lives tied to upland grazing and small-scale cultivation. A boundary bank runs nearby, evidence of the organized land division that supported these settlements.
The Devonport Leat, a short section of which survives here, speaks to a different era and purpose. Built in the 17th century to carry water downhill toward Plymouth, the leat cuts across the ancient landscape, a reminder that Dartmoor has been reshaped by successive human needs. Today the site sits on open moorland northwest of Raddick Hill, where these different periods of use remain visible in the ground.
