Eylesbarrow Tin Mine

Grid ref: SX 5980 6816

Eylesbarrow sits on the open moorland where tin streaming and mining shaped Dartmoor's landscape for generations. The remains are scattered across rough ground—stone buildings reduced to foundations, collapsed shafts, and the quiet pools that once served the mining process. Walking among them, you're treading through the working life of the moor itself.

The site speaks of the skill and hardship required to extract tin from this exposed plateau. Weather-worn stone and the surrounding heather tell the story of industrial enterprise on one of England's wildest high moors. It's a place that rewards exploration and reflection on how people once lived and worked in this remote corner of Devon.
