Unenclosed hut circle settlement near Trowlesworthy Warren House

This unenclosed settlement consists of several stone hut circles, the remains of Bronze Age roundhouses built when Dartmoor's high ground was actively farmed and lived on. The huts are typical of the many such communities scattered across the moor, their stone foundations still visible as low circular rings in the turf and heather.

The site sits on open moorland, part of the broader landscape of prehistoric settlement that shaped Dartmoor. Walking here, you encounter the moor as it has been for over three thousand years: exposed, windswept, and marked by the traces of those who made their lives on it. The scheduled monument status reflects its archaeological significance to understanding Bronze Age Dartmoor.
