Two hut circles near Sharpitor

This is a Bronze Age site scattered across open moorland, comprising two stone hut circles, a round cairn, a reave (ancient field boundary), and a shelter. The hut circles are the remains of domestic structures, likely used seasonally or year-round by communities who herded livestock and worked the moor. The reave is part of the extensive field system that once divided Dartmoor into territories and land use patterns.

Today the site is visible as low stone foundations and banks across rough ground. Like many upland Bronze Age settlements, it speaks to a time when the moor was more intensively inhabited and managed than it is now. The landscape here retains its essential character, and a visit involves walking into working moorland where archaeology and present use are woven together.
