Two round cairns near Great Nodden

These two round cairns stand on the open Dartmoor landscape south-west of Great Nodden, built during the Bronze Age as burial or ceremonial monuments. Round cairns of this type are among the most common archaeological features on Dartmoor, often constructed from the stone readily at hand and marking significant places in the Bronze Age settlement and use of the moor.

Today the cairns remain as low stone mounds in the moorland terrain. Their presence here reflects the density of Bronze Age activity across Dartmoor's high ground, part of a wider pattern of monuments and settlements that shaped the moor thousands of years ago. The site is protected as a Scheduled Monument.
