Two round cairns near Raddick Hill

These two round cairns sit on open moorland south-west of Raddick Hill, part of the dense scatter of funerary monuments that mark Dartmoor's Bronze Age landscape. Built as burial mounds over 3,000 years ago, they would once have been more prominent features, their stones gradually settling and spreading across the turf as the centuries passed.

Today the cairns are modest but recognisable mounds, best visited as part of a wider walk across this section of the moor. Their position on high ground reflects the ancient practice of burying the dead in prominent places, visible across the landscape and serving as lasting markers of ownership and memory.
