Two cairns

Two cairns form part of an extensive cairnfield scattered across Longstone Hill, a landscape shaped by Bronze Age burial practices. These stone mounds, built over three thousand years ago, mark the graves of individuals whose names and stories are lost but whose presence remains inscribed on the moor itself.

Visiting the site today, you will find low stone cairns set among the rough moorland terrain. The cairnfield extends across the hill, a testament to sustained use of this upland ground during prehistory. The openness of Longstone Hill offers wide views across Dartmoor, and the cairns sit within that vast, windswept context that defines so much of the National Park's character.
