Three hut circles

These three stone hut circles form part of an unenclosed settlement on the north-east slope of Cox Tor, likely dating to the Bronze Age. The huts are arranged informally across the hillside, typical of the scattered domestic settlements that once dotted Dartmoor's higher ground. Unenclosed settlements of this kind suggest a period when people moved more freely across the moor, before the later field systems and boundaries were established.

Today the circles remain as low stone foundations, their precise form visible on the ground to those who know what to look for.
