Hut circle

This scheduled monument is one of several stone hut circles scattered across the north-east slope of Cox Tor, forming part of an unenclosed Bronze Age settlement. The circular stone foundations are typical of prehistoric domestic sites found across Dartmoor, built by communities who farmed and lived on the moor during the Bronze Age and possibly later periods.

Today the hut circle sits within the open moorland landscape, offering a tangible connection to Dartmoor's ancient past. The site is best explored as part of a wider walk around Cox Tor, where multiple archaeological features reward careful observation of the ground and stone arrangements.
