This scheduled monument preserves a single stone hut circle and a short section of boundary wall, remnants of a broader Bronze Age settlement scattered across Cox Tor's slopes. The hut circle, built from stone foundations, represents domestic life on Dartmoor's high ground in prehistory, when communities grazed stock and worked the upland terrain. The surviving boundary wall hints at how these ancient inhabitants organized their landscape and claimed grazing rights on the moor.
Today the site is modest and unexcavated. Visiting it means walking the open moorland where the structures still stand, placing yourself among Bronze Age paths and the granite tors that shaped their world. It forms part of the archaeological palimpsest visible across northern Dartmoor, where countless such settlements tell the story of human continuity on the moor.
