Stone hut circle 155m east of Sharpitor

This is a hut circle, one of many scattered across Dartmoor that mark the remains of Bronze Age settlements. Dating from the second millennium BC, such circles were the homes of pastoral communities who grazed livestock on the open moor. What you see today is a low, roughly circular earthwork, the degraded foundation and wall of a roundhouse that once stood here.

Located 155 metres east of Sharpitor on the exposed moorland, the site sits within the wider landscape of prehistoric Dartmoor, where dozens of such structures, cairns and field systems survive. The position offers views across the moor and speaks to the ancient use of these uplands. The circle is now a scheduled monument, protected for its archaeological and historical importance to our understanding of Bronze Age life on Dartmoor.
