Sheeps Tor

Devon

Sheeps Tor is a granite outcrop rising from the open moor in central Dartmoor, modest in height but characteristic of the landscape. The tor's weathered granite blocks command views across the moorland plateau, with clear sightlines to surrounding hills and valleys. The setting is typical of Dartmoor's high ground, windswept and open.

The tor is accessible from several directions with good moorland walking routes nearby. The walk here rewards with the kind of gradual, expansive views that define the moor rather than any dramatic summit moment. It is a useful landmark and a natural stopping point on longer moorland walks across this central area.
