Pillow mound and animal run 830m north east of Trowlesworthy Warren House

This scheduled monument consists of a pillow mound and animal run forming part of Trowlesworthy Warren, a medieval landscape of rabbit management on Dartmoor's open ground. The pillow mound is a low, elongated earthwork, typically built to provide suitable habitat for breeding rabbits. The associated run, or pathway, would have channelled animals towards nets or traps used by the warren keepers.

Such warrens represent an important medieval land use, creating a working landscape that shaped the moor for centuries.
