Legis Tor Warren

Nattor, Plympton, Devon

Grid ref: SX 5732 6534

Legis Tor Warren is a Bronze Age archaeological complex that captures the enduring human presence on Dartmoor's high ground. The site combines several settlement features, including hut circles, cairns, and what may be ritual stone arrangements, spread across the characteristic rough moorland terrain. Walking among these remains, you're treading paths that Bronze Age communities inhabited and worked around 3,500 years ago.

The moorland setting itself tells part of the story: exposed, windswept, and unforgiving, yet people chose to build and live here. The scattered stone circles and platforms are subtle rather than dramatic, requiring patience and imagination to read, but that engagement with the landscape makes visiting deeply rewarding. Best explored on foot, the site rewards careful observation of how its Bronze Age inhabitants shaped their world.
