Knatta Barrow is a Bronze Age round barrow situated on Dartmoor's high ground, a modest but significant marker of the moor's deep past. These burial mounds, built between 2000 and 1000 BC, were once far more common across the landscape. Today, weathered and grass-covered, they remain silent witnesses to the ceremonial practices of ancient communities who lived and died on this moorland.
The barrow's location on the open moor gives it the isolation and exposure that characterizes so much of Dartmoor's archaeology. Standing here, you're in the company of Bronze Age people whose connection to this landscape was profound and lasting—their monuments enduring across millennia, worn by wind and rain, but still visible to those who know where to look.
