Huntingdon Barrow is a Bronze Age round barrow sitting on the open expanse of Dartmoor, part of a dense cluster of burial monuments that dot these high moors. Dating back some 4,000 years, it represents a chapter in Dartmoor's long human history, when communities marked their dead with substantial earthworks visible across the landscape.
The barrow survives as a low but distinct mound, best appreciated in context with neighbouring monuments. Walking out to it across the moorland, you experience the same vast, windswept terrain that those Bronze Age peoples knew—a landscape that has changed little in its essential character, making the presence of these ancient graves feel immediate and touching.
