This scheduled monument is the remains of an enclosed settlement dating to the Bronze Age, situated on Dartmoor's high ground west of Raddick Hill summit. The site consists of earthwork banks and ditches that once enclosed a small community, typical of the pattern of settlement that spread across the moor during the Bronze Age when the landscape was more extensively farmed and populated than it is today.
Today the site survives as a network of low banks and ditches, sometimes subtle and weathered, which mark out the layout of ancient houses and yards. Visiting requires cross-country walking across open moorland, and the ruins reward the effort with a tangible sense of how people lived and organised their settlements on high Dartmoor thousands of years ago.
