Eighteen cairns

This cairnfield on Longstone Hill is a Bronze Age monument, part of the extensive ritual and burial landscape that covers much of Dartmoor's high ground. Eighteen cairns are arranged across the site, along with a length of bank and a recumbent stone, all forming a coherent group that suggests organized use of the moorland over generations.

Walking across the site today, you can trace the stones and earthworks among the heather and grass. Like many Dartmoor cairnfields, this monument reflects how Bronze Age communities structured their relationship with the moor, marking burial places and territorial boundaries that shaped the landscape we see now.
